We all have them. Here are a few of mine.
- Won a gold medal in a competitive Scrabble tournament (okay, it was in the Senior Olympics, but it still counts)
- Conducted the Hallelujah Chorus with a 70-voice choir and orchestra.
- Represented self in district court against a real attorney and prevailed.
- Sing first alto in the Des Moines Choral Society.
- Serve on the board of directors of the Science Center of Iowa.
- Won a blue ribbon from the Iowa State Fair.
- Entertain with handwriting analysis (paid on at least one occasion).
- Scored 49 out of 50 in Camp Lake Hubert riflery competition.
- Studied sociolinguistics as a postgraduate fellow at the University of Reading, England.
- Persuaded Regis Philbin to invite me to his office; 40 minutes later, we were still talking.
- Recognized as the Woman Business Owner of the Year, Business Record.
- Sat in on a rehearsal of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
- Earned doctorate in communication theory and research at the University of Iowa.
