WELCOME TO THE BEST
SERVICE
GROUP IN THE WORLD
Lions Clubs International is the largest and most effective community service
organization in the world. Marshalltown Iowa Noon Lions Club is one of 44,833 clubs
in 186 countries with 1.4 million members.
Regardless of the location of the club, all Lions are dedicated to seeking
out and helping those in need.
Lions Clubs International was founded in 1917 by Melvin
Jones, who saw
successful men and women working together to create a better community, nation,
and world to foster a spirit of understanding, tolerance, and good will in every
community on earth.

Four years later, in 1921, the Marshalltown Lions joined that rapidly growing
organization. In 1925, Helen Keller challenged the Lions to become Knights of
the Blind. They accepted to lead the crusade against blindness, visual
impairment and deafness.
The University of Iowa asked the Lions Clubs of Iowa for financial support to
start the Eye Bank and the Cochlear Implant Center. They agreed. Both are highly
successful and Iowa Lions Foundation continues to support these programs.
