You've never been to Iowa? Here are some interesting facts about our state!

Des Moines is Iowa's capital.

Iowa became the 29th state on December 28th, 1846.

"Ripley's Believe It or Not" has named a street in Burlington, Iowa, the "most crooked street in the world"!

Iowa is the only state name that starts with two vowels.

West Okoboji is Iowa's deepest natural lake. Its depth is 136 feet!

West Okoboji's "sister" lake, East Okoboji, is Iowa's longest natural lake at 16 miles!

Sabula is Iowa's only town on an island.

The famous actor John Wayne was born in Winterset, Iowa on May 26, 1907.

Our 31st President, Herbert Hoover was born in West Branch, Iowa.

The name "Iowa" probably came from an Indian word meaning “this is the place” or “the Beautiful Land”.

There are a few ways to reach our church.

From west:

1. Go on Interstate 235 and take exit 15 east on East Euclid Avenue (also called US 6).

2. Keep going until you hit the Hubbell Avenue (called US 6 too).

3 Go north on Hubbell Avenue and go about 1 1/2 miles to East 42nd Street and turn right.

4. Look for an orange Porter Hardware sign on the corner of Hubbell Avenue and East 42nd Street.

5. Go south on East 42nd Street for about 3 blocks.

6. Look for our sign! We are on the east side, next to the large Hope Lutheran Church.

From east:

7. Go on US 65 and take exit 83 west on Hubbell Avenue (also called US 6).

8. Follow #4 to #6 above.
